Survivor Changes the World One T-Shirt at a Time

Dark time – In the 1980s, Tammi Burns was a victim, but she didn’t want to be. She found herself in "one abusive relationship after another." She lived through physical, emotional and verbal abuse. She was physically attacked and raped by her spouse, who threatened to end her life as well as his own. Nonetheless, she found the courage to walk out.

Break the Chain now Available in Downtown Salem

Salem, Ore. 18 Nov. 2009 – Break the Chain® Apparel has announced that the Salem-Keizer Education Foundation's storefront "Where the Sidewalk Begins" will now carry Break the Chain merchandise at 233 Commercial St. NE in downtown Salem. Break the Chain Apparel will be available at this location starting on America's biggest shopping day of the year: Black Friday, November 27th. The store will be open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. that day.

Food Share, Clothing Line Address Hunger Issues

Salem, Ore. 22 Oct. 2009 – Break the Chain® Apparel and the Marion-Polk Food Share have joined together to bring awareness to the hunger issues in Oregon's Marion and Polk counties. They have designed and produced a t-shirt that will serve as a fundraiser for the Food Share. The shirt's slogan, "Because No One Should Go Hungry… End Hunger Now" is a powerful message that the organizations expect will bring positive attention to the hunger plight.

Gang Awareness Project, Straight from the Source

Albany, Ore. 8 September 2009 – Young girls behind bars in Albany, Ore. are creating a unified voice against gang violence. With some starting in gang activity as young as first grade, they can relate to the disturbing patterns of behavior that perpetuate through generations. With an opportunity with Break the Chain® Apparel, the girls are speaking out against gang activity by creating a t-shirt design that will relay their heartfelt, convincing message: “Every gangster’s prayer ends in a funeral. We have to stop this way of life.”
